Microsoft's Home Use Program for Teachers

If you would like a copy of the Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for your home computer (PC or Mac), Microsoft offers a 'Home Use Program' for our staff in Wethersfield. 

The following instructions explain how you can obtain a copy of the Microsoft Office software for your home computer:

Microsoft 'Home Use Program' Now Available

 

Employees of Wethersfield Public School are now eligible to participate in Microsoft’s Software Assurance Home Use Program (HUP). This program enables you to get a licensed copy of most Microsoft® Office desktop PC applications to install and use on your home computer. 

Under the Home Use Program, you and our other employees who are users of qualifying applications at work (e.g. Office Enterprise) may acquire a licensed copy of the corresponding Home Use Program software (e.g. Office Enterprise) to install and use on a home computer. You may continue using HUP software while you are under our employment and as long as the corresponding software you use at work has active Software Assurance coverage.

To access the Microsoft Home Use Program Web site

 1. Go to http://hup.microsoft.com/

2. Select the country to which you want your order to be shipped to and choose the language for viewing the order Web site. 

3. Enter your Wethersfield Public Schools e-mail address and insert the following program code 6B326F7B53 

Note: This program code is assigned to our organization for our sole use in accessing this site. You may not share this number with anyone outside our organization. 

4. Place your order online, and it will be shipped to the location you have chosen. You will be charged a fulfillment fee of $9.95.  (Retail on Microsoft Office Professional 2010 is $499.99 at www.staples.com
 

Apple Computer Users

Once you receive your confirmation email, reenter the site by clicking on BUY NOW on the left side of the page you will see an icon for “Office for Mac 2011” click on the “Learn More” link. This will give you the option to buy Office for Apple Computers.

Commonly asked Questions

Q: I have documents created in older versions of Microsoft Office. Will I still be able to open them?

A: Yes. Files created in previous versions of Office can be opened using the Office 2010 version of the applications.

 

Q: Can I open Office 2010 files using previous versions of Office?

A: Yes, Office 2010 files can be opened within Office 2007. If you have Office 2000, XP, or 2003, you will need to download the free Compatibility Pack. However, new features and formatting capabilities found in the new version might be lost when saving to or opening from previous versions of the software.

 

Q: Are there Office 2010 resources and training available from Microsoft?
 

A: Yes, visit the Getting Started with Microsoft Office 2010 page.

 

Q: Will Office 2010 run on all operating systems (Windows 98, XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7)?

A: No. Office 2010 will not run on Windows 98. Office 2010 requires at least Windows XP with Service Pack 3 (SP3) or later.  64-bit Windows XP not supported.

 

Q: Will Office 2010 run on my computer?

On March 6 2018, 33 Wethersfield High School students attended the Connecticut DECA Career Development Competition at the Aqua Turf in Southington. Approximately 1100 students from across the state of CT participated and competed in this conference which serves as a showplace for skills learned by students in marketing education instructional programs Fourteen students from Wethersfield received awards and earned the right to attend the national conference which will be held in Atlanta, Georgia (April 21 - 25).
