Wethersfield HS Renovation Plans Evolving

WETHERSFIELD – The town council this week got a detailed look at evolving plans for the $75 million high school renovation project, including numerous design images of the building's interior and exterior.

Architect Rusty Malik and pre-construction manager Lorel H. Purcell walked the council through the project's various pieces, including parking, a media center, a music wing, science labs, an auditorium and two gymnasiums.

WHS Building Project "Look Ahead" Activities

New Gym:

Mason: Installing main perimeter CMU walls. Complete this week.

Site Contractor: Begin to grade for concrete floor slab.

Electrical: Under slab electrical conduits.

New Locker Rooms:

Plumber: Under slab Plumbing.

Electrical: Misc. Demo.

HVAC: Demo.

Mason: Misc. Infill’s.

Band/Choral & Media Center

Plumber: Under slab Plumbing.

Electrical: Demo and CMU in wall rough in.

HVAC :.Demo.

Fire Protection: Safe off and demo (2nd shift)

Site work: Site Improvements West, Slab Prep in Gym.

Looking ahead:

New Gym Floor Slab Concrete: week of 4/21.

Metal Framing (Higher Elevations Gym) & Band/Media Additions.

Gym, A: Remove bleachers, and gym divider during the spring holiday.

The Wethersfield High School class of 2018 graduation is scheduled for Friday, June 22, 2018 at Cove Park.
On March 6 2018, 33 Wethersfield High School students attended the Connecticut DECA Career Development Competition at the Aqua Turf in Southington. Approximately 1100 students from across the state of CT participated and competed in this conference which serves as a showplace for skills learned by students in marketing education instructional programs Fourteen students from Wethersfield received awards and earned the right to attend the national conference which will be held in Atlanta, Georgia (April 21 - 25). Wethersfield Parents, Guardians and Community Members - Please join us in a conversation with Mr. Rais Bhuiyan. His tale of empathy and kindness in the face of hate and personal attack will inspire.
