At our last Town Meeting our grade six students treated the Webb School Community to their version of Channel 51 News (after our address 51 Willow St.).

This video was done with our talented art teacher and is an elementary version of the WHS Blue Eagle News. The WHS kids inspired us!

Once again, the WHS Computer Science students would like to invite kids in grades 4 - 8 and their parents or guardians to the WHS Family Hour of Code.  The event will be in Room 402 at WHS on Thursday, December 7, from 7 - 8 PM (but you can arrive as early as 6:30 to avoid waiting in line).  This is part of the world-wide "Hour of Code" celebration happening in December.  You and your kids will be writing computer code to create colorful, noisy programs.  You don't have to know anything at all about computer code; that's the point!  We guarantee you will write your first code in ten minutes or less, and have fun doing it.  You will be assisted by current and former WHS Comp Sci students, who will help every step of the way.  We will be adding one or two new choices to the program, so if you have joined us before, please come again and see what's new.
The event is open to all employees and residents of Wethersfield, and their kids in grades 4 - 8.  (If you need / want to bring younger kids, just let us know; we can adapt!)
You can sign up by completing the form at:
You can also see the attached flyer for a more colorful invitation, here:
Hope to see you there!

Students in Mrs. Cookson's 4th grade class at Emerson-Williams have been working to read "with their noses in the book" and notice details about their characters in order to develop an interpretation. This week they applied these new strategies to closely read and interpret photographs.

Today they met with their buddies in Mrs. Dawson's classroom to help the kindergarten students "look closely" at photographs and "label them like scientists". 4th graders helped their buddies notice all the small details, identify and write beginning sounds in words, and stretch to spell "tricky" words.

This collaboration truly integrated the focus of the 4th grade reading unit and the kindergarten writing unit!

Fifth graders from Charles Wright had their first grade level PBIS celebration of positive behaviors.  Students earned their way into this friendly game by demonstrating Charles Wright PRIDE - the promise to be respectful, independent, dependable and engaged.  Students enjoyed an afternoon game of kickball, building camaraderie and celebrating good behavior choices.
