Once again, the WHS Computer Science students would like to invite kids in grades 4 - 8 and their parents or guardians to the WHS Family Hour of Code. The event will be in Room 402 at WHS on Thursday, December 7, from 7 - 8 PM (but you can arrive as early as 6:30 to avoid waiting in line). This is part of the world-wide "Hour of Code" celebration happening in December. You and your kids will be writing computer code to create colorful, noisy programs. You don't have to know anything at all about computer code; that's the point! We guarantee you will write your first code in ten minutes or less, and have fun doing it. You will be assisted by current and former WHS Comp Sci students, who will help every step of the way. Please click for more.

Silas Deane Middle School's Charlene Maddock has been selected as the 2017 Teacher of the Year for the Wethersfield Public Schools.

An excerpt from Charlene's nomination...

Teachers who love teaching, teach students to love learning.  Charlene Maddock exemplifies this statement with the utmost passion and commitment to the teaching profession.  Charlene goes above and beyond every day.  She has a significant impact on her students' lives and makes a difference because of the positive rapport she has with each individual.  Charlene makes every person - big or small, feel like they matter, and she influences other teachers tremendously.  She is a role model to her colleagues and her students.
