Best of Spain

Summer Trip 2009

Fifteen Wethersfield High School Spanish students embarked on a two-week excursion through Spain in July.  Students had an opportunity to visit major cities and experience the Spanish culture firsthand.  Some highlights of the trip included sightseeing in Madrid, Seville, Córdoba, Málaga, Alicante, Barcelona, Bilbao, San Sebastian, and Segovia.  Students took a side-trip to Gibraltar, where the clear visibility allowed them to see the shores of Africa.  In Seville, students enjoyed a flamenco show and took a cruise on the Guadalquivir River by night.  Students were fortunate to be in Barcelona during one of the stages of the Tour de France and also walked the street of Pamplona during the famous San Fermines festivities.  Students bid farewell to beautiful Spain by tasting “churros con chocolate” and relaxing in the Plaza Mayor.
