My name is Cristina Russo and I will be your Spanish teacher for the upcoming year.  I would like to take this opportunity to give you a little background of myself.  I earned a B.S. in Spanish in 1998, and a M.S. in Instructional Technology in 2006 from Southern Connecticut State University.  I have also completed a summer program in Spain at the Colegio de España, Salamanca where I was fortunate to live with a host family and experience the Spanish culture and every day life firsthand.

I have been teaching at Wethersfield High School for fourteen years. As an educator I have chosen to embrace technology and educate myself on the new era in the evolution of technology.  I have effectively learned how to integrate technology in the classroom to enhance the learning experience for my students.

I am a very active person and enjoy the outdoors. Along with teaching at WHS, I was the girls' Cross Country and Track and Field Head Coach but had to resign due to my two beautiful daughters. Now I am their coach.

I love to travel and have been in Dominica Republic, Mexico, Spain, France, Corsica, Portugal, Italy, England, North Wales, Scotland, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Anguila,St. Barts, St. Croix and most recently Puerto Rico. I enjoy learning about different cultures, and whenever I have the chance, I love to practice the Spanish language. I take advantage of my traveling experiences to gather pictures and artifacts and use them as instructional pieces in the classroom.

I also love to spend time with family, friends, and my dog "Fluffy". I have two daughters; a four year old, Savannah, and a two year old, Kylie; they are the world to me. They bring joy to our family every day.

My mission as an educator is to help each student reach his/her full potential and to instill lifelong love of learning.  Respect for self and others will be enforced both in and outside of the classroom.  Students will work in a collaborative setting to build critical thinking, communication skills and to appreciate the complexity and diversity of world cultures.  I will encourage students to always give 100% effort in any task and guide them to achieve their dreams and aspirations.  I am dedicated to providing my students with a safe and fun learning environment.

Welcome to my classroom and let's have some fun!
