Dining Services are provided to all schools within the Town of Wethersfield, including five public elementary schools, Silas Deane Middle School, Wethersfield High School, CREC Discovery Academy, and CREC SoundBridge.
The Department of Business Services is responsible for contract negotiation and oversight of contract execution and facilities management by the vendor who provides food service management; compliance with state and federal reimbursement and nutritional guidelines; triennial cafeteria fund audits; and processing, certification, random audit and appeals for free and reduced lunch applications.
All complete meals include a choice of fruit and milk.

Field Trip Lunch Service
Wethersfield Public Schools Food Service
Nutritious student lunches are our first priority. USDA research
indicates that children who participate in the School Lunch
program have superior nutritional intakes compared to those
students who do not participate. Teachers or coaches can order
lunches for students traveling on classroom field trips or on
athletic team competitions.
If students will miss school lunch while they are on a field trip or traveling to a
competition, they can sign up for lunches that can be picked up in the school
kitchen/cafeteria on the morning of the trip.
Please fill out the field trip order forms and submit it to the
Food Service Office 7 days before the trip.
Students can choose one of the following selections:
A. Turkey & Cheese Wrap
B. Ham & Cheese Wrap
C. Italian cold cut grinder (Hero)
D. Crispy Chicken Wrap
E. Veggie Salad with Cheese
F. Crispy Chicken SALAD
All lunches will include fresh baby carrots, fresh fruit, a bag of baked chips, and a low-fat milk (16.9oz bottled waters can be substituted for milk on field trips). Paper goods will be included.
Coolers can be signed out for longer trips.
The cost for each student will follow their school’s lunch prices:
Elementary $2.60, SDMS $3.60, WHS $3.60; no charge for students who qualify
for free lunch; $.40 for students who qualify for reduced lunch, Adults $5.00.
Students who sign up for a field trip lunch can have their lunch charged to their
Nutrikids account or pay cash.

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
Applying for reduced price or free meals:
For families who qualify, reduced price and free lunches are provided. Free or reduced price meals may be applied for at any time during the school year. If you are not eligible now, but experience a change such as a decrease in household income, an increase in household size, become unemployed or get SNAP (formerly food stamps), fill out an application at that time. The Free & Reduced Letters and applications can be downloaded by selecting the link below.

Important Things to Note About mySchoolBucks:
- Your existing account information including login username/password and associated children will be carried over
to the mySchoolBucks website.
- The convenience fee for cafeteria account deposits will be $1.95, which will cover all deposits made within a single transaction.
- You may fund up to $120 per child, but you may pay for all of your children on a single transaction.
- mySchoolBucks has the following payment methods available for use:

The MyNutrikids.com Support Team
The Point of Sale (POS) system has now been installed in all of our schools and has been very successful. By taking advantage of this system it will help manage your child’s lunch balance. Funds may be deposited at any time of the week by sending in a check (made out to Wethersfield Cafeteria Fund) or cash in a sealed envelope with your child’s name and ID number on it. Checks are the preferred method of payment.
What is a Point of Sale System? A Point of Sale System is a computerized system that works similar to a debit card system. Here is how it works:
Each student in the school is entered into a computer database and assigned a number. In this case the number assigned will be the same as the bar-coded number on the school ID Card. Free and reduced meal eligibility is also entered into the computer. All information entered into the database is kept confidential by a series of secure passwords and codes.
Parents send in payment for lunches as they normally would. Checks should be placed in an envelope with the student’s name, grade, and the amount of money enclosed. All checks should be made payable to Wethersfield Cafeteria Fund, and should include the name of the student and school name on the bottom left-hand corner. Once money is received, a student account will be set up in the computer. Those students entitled to free meals will not need to take any action, as they will be automatically set up in the database.
The students will need to carry the student ID card into the cafeteria, as they will use it to access their account. Once the student has procured his or her lunch or items from the cafeteria line, he or she proceeds to the cashier, who will take the card and scan it through the computer. The value of the transaction is then deducted from the student monetary account in the same manner as a debit card.
It will be the responsibility of the student to keep his/her id password confidential.
It’s that simple!
This system features many advantages to both parents and students. Parents will have the ability to monitor their children’s eating habits and spending by requesting usage reports on exactly how the student has spent money deposited in the account. With the POS system, parents do not need to worry about giving their child lunch money on a daily basis and can place as much money in their child’s lunch account as they wish. Students will spend less time waiting in lines at the register, and will not have to deal with fishing money out of pockets. All they do is swipe and go! Both parents and students can have instant access to the balance of their lunch account, and students will be verbally reminded when their lunch account needs to be replenished before it is depleted!
