When you visit Webb for our "Meet and Greet" on the 26th of August, please take a moment to recognize how great our school looks for your children. I firmly believe a welcoming school allows students to feel safe and happy while learning. Our head custodian, Mr. Bill McNeil, and his staff deserve to be recognized. Please click the photo for more.
Silas Deane Middle School's Karen Marshall has been selected as the 2015 Teacher of the Year for the Wethersfield Public Schools. Karen was officially nominated by 9 of her middle school colleagues. Please click the title for more.
On May 19, seventeen students from the Silas Deane Middle School Technology Club traveled to RHAM Middle School to test their custom made solar cars. However, as the clouds rolled in, students quickly modified their solar cars to work indoors using batteries and switches. Students in seventh and eighth grade worked in teams to design and build the fastest battery powered car. This was the second meeting for the schools, as they met previously on May 12 to plan out their designs. Students learned how solar panels work, how solar cars are made at the collegiate level and how the right gear ratio could improve their vehicles. On race day the competition was strong as students competed in two heats. Students were then ranked and raced for the championship. Please click the title for more.
