Safe Graduation meetings are held one evening per month in the Fireside Room at the Pitkin Community Center. More information will be available through the mail. We hope you can join us!
Safe Grad Meetings!
Interested in helping with the annual Safe Grad Party? The all-night substance free party is held each year for graduating seniors after graduation at the Wethersfield Community Center. There are many ways that you can help so please consider coming to the first meeting of the school year on Monday September 11 at 7pm in the Fireside Room at Wethersfield Community Center with all other meetings being the first Monday of the month thereafter. If you are interest in volunteering, please come to a meeting or contact Diane Fitzpatrick (email@example.com) or Lisa Stefano (firstname.lastname@example.org), co-chairs of the Safe Grad committee.
Have you seen those pink birds around town every Fall? It is the annual WHS Safe Grad Flamingo Fundraiser! Flocking begins in September and will last throughout the Fall. Please contact the Flocking Crew at WHSflock2018@gmail.com to arrange for a flock to land on your friends’ or family’s lawn!
Annual Safe Grad Fundraising Dance – Stay tuned
This is a BYOE (Bring Your Own Everything!) event, and our biggest fundraiser of the year. More information will follow shortly, but if you would like to volunteer to assist please contact Carol Hurley (email@example.com) or Kerry Zaleski (firstname.lastname@example.org). We need help with the dance itself and most importantly with procuring Silent Auction and Raffle items.
Meeting Dates for WHS Safe Graduation
All meetings are at 7pm in the Fireside Room at Pitkin Community Center unless otherwise noted.
This is the season of Employee Giving and United Way campaigns at many companies. During your employer’s campaign, merely indicate that you would like to direct all or part of your donation to “Wethersfield High School Safe Graduation”. WHS Safe Grad is a 501(c)(3) organization, which means that any monetary contribution is tax-deductible (please consult your tax advisor for details).
You will need the following information to make your donation through your employer’s Giving Campaign:

Many companies also provide for monetary donations due to employees’ volunteer efforts. Talk with your Human Resource department to determine if your company offers a monetary donation based on your volunteer hours with WHS Safe Grad. Certain companies offer up to a $500 donation, so it is well worth your time to research it, as well as to come out and have fun volunteering for the benefit of your child!!

PARENTS OF GRADUATING SENIORS 2017 AND PARENTS OF JUNIORS TOO… WE NEED YOU!!
Shortly, our seniors will be graduating and celebrating their accomplishments. The Safe Graduation Committee has been working diligently raising funds and planning this special event which is free for all of our graduating seniors. However, many volunteers are needed at the Safe Graduation celebration.
Volunteers will be assigned certain responsibilities including: student check-in, monitoring entrances, exits, coat room, lavatories, activity rooms, food pick-up, serving, clean-up, delivery of leftovers to local shelters, and general clean –up.
PLEASE CONSIDER VOLUNTEERING FOR ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING SHIFTS: Shift A (junior parents) 6pm-9pm (set up)
Shift 1: 9pm – 12am
Shift 2: 12am – 3am
Shift 3: 3am – 5am

Plans are currently underway for many of the fundraising events to support Wethersfield High School’s Safe Graduation 2017. Your participation in these fundraisers and attendance at the social events will ensure a successful all-night, substance-free, Safe Graduation party for our graduating seniors. Many volunteers are needed to help with our efforts, so please consider getting involved in the planning process or volunteering your time. Some of the events that will be held this year are an apparel sale, a winter dance, a clothing drive, and selling lawn signs. And of course, our beautiful flamingos will be out and about the town! More information will be available in future high school mailings.

The Food Committee needs at least 6 to 8 volunteers to help plan the menu and visit local restaurants to secure donations.

Congratulate your senior by displaying a sign in your yard. You will see them all around town.
Signs are $15.00 per sign. Orders must be submitted by May 19, 2017 so order early!
