Principal's Message:
Dear Highcrest Families,

Welcome
to the 2009-2010 school year, the Highcrest community and our school’s
website! I hope you find this website informative. This is an extra
special year for us as it marks the 40th anniversary of
Highcrest School. Our school is a vibrant academic and social community
based on collaboration among students, staff, and parents. We maintain
high expectations and are committed to creating an environment of mutual
respect and responsibility for oneself and others. The Highcrest School
community enjoys a strong partnership between home and school and looks
forward to your active participation.
On
September 1, we opened the doors to over 420 smiling faces. The staff
and I are excited about the many new learning opportunities that will
take place this year, most notably the implementation of the Responsive
Classroom. Teachers will receive training in the Responsive Classroom
throughout the school year. Highcrest Elementary School is a very
special place in large part due to the open communication that exists
here. Therefore, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s
classroom teacher, the support staff or me for any reason.
In
addition to this website another way for you to stay informed about
Highcrest during the school year is through our school newsletter
“Highcrest Highlights”, published monthly by the Highcrest PTO. We are
delighted that your family is part of our community and look forward to
your support and participation, as together, we continue the tradition
of excellence at Highcrest School.
Sincerely,
Maresa M.
Harvey, Principal
