ABOUT THE PTO
The Emerson-Williams PTO is a non-profit
organization established to serve the families of
Emerson-Williams and to help support the students, staff and
curriculum. The PTO takes a very active role in the
enrichment activities of the school, while encouraging a feeling
of community spirit among students, staff and parents. The PTO
organizes and mobilizes the many parents that, through their
volunteerism, make an active contribution to the school
community. Funds to support all PTO-sponsored programs and
purchases are generated through membership dues and through
parent-coordinated fundraisers.
The PTO is a great way for parents to become
involved with their children’s elementary school experience. We
urge all parents to join the PTO and to participate to the
greatest extent possible in PTO activities. Parental involvement
is one of the most important factors in a school's success.
Meetings are held on the second Thursday of each
month at 7:00 p.m. (unless noted otherwise) in the
Emerson-Williams Media Center.
Notices of the meetings appear in our
Tiger Topics Newsletter and are listed
on the Emerson-Williams PTO meeting page.
HOW CAN I HELP?
There
are many ways to get involved and volunteer your time with the
PTO. You can serve on the Board, sign up as a Committee Chair,
or attend an occasional meeting. A great variety of volunteer
opportunities are available with a wide range of positions
available to fit your schedule and areas of expertise. We have
everything from leadership roles to set up/clean up at events.
Many events require volunteers at tables, baking or just making
telephone calls. Volunteer as many or as few hours as you would
like. Our major Fundraisers and socials such as the Book Fair,
Strawberry Festival, Holiday Shop and others require
participation by the entire school community. The more
volunteers, the easier the task!
The PTO offers opportunities to meet other
parents and get
acquainted with Emerson-Williams. Volunteering is a great way to meet people
and to become involved in your child's school. Grab a friend, or
get to know someone by Co-Chairing a committee or joining a
committee. The PTO cannot function without volunteers!
The foundation of parent involvement in the
school is the EMERSON-WILLIAMS PARENT TEACHER ORGANIZATION. Numerous hours
are devoted to school-wide projects that benefit our students
and community at large. The PTO's financial support enriches the
curriculum with educational and cultural programs and provides
funding for student field trips.
The PTO is a parent organization; we need YOUR
participation, ideas and support. If you have any questions,
comments or concerns about the PTO, please feel free to contact
the Co-Presidents directly, or submit questions and comments in
writing via the PTO mailbox in the school office.
