Please adhere to the following regulations when dropping students off or picking students up for afternoon and/or evening activities, rehearsals, practices, or games at Wethersfield High School:
All students should be exiting the building through the WHS "Main Entrance". The former "Pool Entrance" is now an emergency exit only and not intended for everyday use. Vehicles entering the high school campus to pick up a student should enter via Jay Street and use the loop by the flag pole.
When driving on campus during the renovation period please make note of the marked crosswalks and walkways. Cars are also being asked to be careful of and attentive to people walking in the parking lots.
Vehicles that arrive on campus using the Wolcott Hill Road entrance will have access to the parking lot on the tennis courts, but will not have access to the loop by the flagpole. If at night a parent or guardian needs to pick up a student on the north side of the school by the tennis courts (entering from the Wolcott Hill Road entrance) it is recommended to wait in a designated parking space and wait for your child there.
There may be times during special night events that administration will allow traffic to enter from the Wolcott Hill Road entrance and proceed to parking on the south side of the campus; however this will only be done with appropriated staff in the parking lots.
High school staff is aware that for many years athletes and music department students have regularly used the pool entrance for their drop-off and pick-up locations. The renovation has caused us to make some necessary adjustments to the day-to-day operations of the school. Although using the main entrance for our exit may be a minor inconvenience, this egress has been selected as a safety precaution and we appreciate all involved following the pick-up/drop-off procedures.
