Thomas R. Moore, Principal of Wethersfield High School, was presented with the Wethersfield Chamber of Commerce's Educator of the Year Award on Wednesday night at the Chamber's annual meeting and dinner. Assistant Superintendent Michael Emmett presented Mr. Moore with the award and cited his leadership and experience with the school accreditation process, curriculum and instruction reforms and building renovations in light of the upcoming $75m WHS renovation. Good Evening,
I am very pleased to inform you that tonight the Board of Education accepted the Administration's recommendation and unanimously approved Emily Daigle as the new Director of Special Education.
The Board also unanimously approved Tim Howes as the new Assistant Superintendent of Schools. Both positions are effective July 1, 2012.
When you see Emily and Tim please take the opportunity to congratulate them.

Behn Sikora, Teacher at Silas Deane Middle School and Wethersfield High School, has been selected to take part in the Siemens STEM Institute fellowship. On Saturday, April 21st, Hanmer Elementary School hosted their 1st Annual Pancake Breakfast. Families enjoyed seeing their Principal, Mrs. Margaret Zacchei behind the counter serving them. While twenty 6th graders helped serve the little kids, they also helped set-up and clean along the way.

On Saturday, May 12th a group of Wethersfield High School staff and students gathered to participate in the Walk in the Park event. The team raised $1600 dollars for Breast Cancer Research and walked in memory of Fran "Honey" Saccente and Leslie Coursey. It was a beautiful day and a fantastic cause! Thanks to all who participated!

Director of Technology Keith Rafaniello was named as the winner of the 2012 District Administrator's Award by the Connecticut Association of School Librarians. WHS will be hosting a Plant Sale will on Saturday, 5/12 and Saturday, 5/19 from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Hanging Baskets, annuals, perennials, hardy mini-roses, vegetables and herbs will be available for sale.
